How it works
How a QR code loyalty program works
A QR code loyalty program connects a customer to a digital rewards card. In Rituro, a business sets a visit target and a reward. Customers use their mobile browser to join and see their progress; authorised staff confirm reward redemption.
A business QR and a customer QR do different jobs
The business QR is an entry point. You display it on a counter sign or an existing screen so a customer can open the program. The customer’s loyalty card is their own record of progress. Joining a program, opening a card and receiving an accepted visit are separate actions.
Where the staff-scanning flow is enabled, a customer presents their own code and an authorised team member scans it. That code identifies the loyalty membership; it is not a customer sign-in credential. This distinction matters when explaining the program to your team: a scan should not be described as a completed purchase or a reward redemption.
From first scan to first reward
- The business chooses what counts as a visit, a target and a reward. Explain exclusions before customers join.
- A customer scans the business QR with their phone camera, signs in or creates their loyalty account, and joins the program in their browser.
- An accepted visit adds progress to that customer’s card. The program’s validation rules still apply; opening the card alone does not award a visit.
- Once the target is reached, a reward becomes available. An authorised staff member confirms redemption when the business supplies the reward.
The homepage demo starts with three example visits. Collecting two more unlocks an example coffee reward; redeeming it starts a fresh card. The demo changes only the example on screen and does not create a live customer account.
What the business needs at the counter
Rituro’s browser-based workflow does not require a POS integration or dedicated loyalty hardware. Use a printed QR sign or an existing screen, and a connected device for the team. Without a POS integration, Rituro does not automatically infer a purchase from a till transaction: the business must use the configured visit-validation process.
Give staff a short explanation of how to recognise the right program, approve eligible activity and confirm a reward. Test the complete customer journey on a phone before putting a sign in front of a queue. Check camera access, the sign’s readability and the connection at the counter.
What to check before choosing QR loyalty
A browser card still needs internet access and customer account verification. Plan how staff will help someone with a flat phone battery or a sign-in problem. Decide how to handle a missed visit instead of promising that every scan always earns a stamp.
Rituro focuses on visit-based loyalty. Spend-based points and POS integrations are outside the current release. Wallet availability and other advanced features depend on provider activation and access; the web card is the current loyalty record. Ask about access before planning a rollout around a particular feature.
